About Threads for Peace
Preserving Palestinian tatreez as a living art form and pathway to peace
Our Mission
Threads for Peace is a community-based non-profit dedicated to preserving and teaching Palestinian tatreez — traditional cross-stitch embroidery — as a living art form and a pathway to peace. We offer in-person workshops, cultural programs, and storytelling events that center Palestinian voices and invite people of all backgrounds to learn together.

Why Tatreez Matters
Tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) is an ancient art passed down mainly through women over generations. Each stitch carries meaning, each pattern tells a story.
Patterns and colors often indicate the maker's village, region, and sometimes social status — it is literally a wearable map of Palestine.
In 2021, UNESCO recognized Palestinian embroidery as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, underscoring its global importance.
